If you have ever lost your keys, then you would know the feelings associated and the uncertainty of where to go to replace them.
It is our aim to make it as easy as possible for you to replace lost or stolen keys, especially for you car.
If you have already talked to other people/trades regarding the replacement of keys and remotes, then you will probably have heard different things that may or may not be correct. One statement we hear a lot is that "Your car has to be towed to the dealer, because only they can replace keys and remotes". While some cars can not have keys made on the side of the road, the majority of cars can easily have new keys made on the spot. No need for towing. No need for waiting. You may have heard the terms "Chipped Keys", "Transponder Keys" or "Electronic Keys" These terms generally refer to keys that have an immobilizer system integrated into the head of the key. It can be difficult to tell the difference between a non immobilizer key and a key with an immobilizer chip. Most cars after 1995 have a factory installed Immobilizer system. Some exceptions are commercial vehicles such as Ute's, Vans and Trucks. Late model commercial vehicles would definitely use a transponder key. Many cars also have buttons in the head of the key which work "Remote locking" and Alarms. The Remote buttons are not part of the immobilizer system used to start the car. These types of keys have 2 separate systems in the key head. If your car does not have a key at all, but a card or plastic key, then it is fitted with a Proximity Key system. The Proximity Key works similar to the "Chipped" or "Transponder" key. But they don't have the physical mechanical key to start the car. Many car manufacturers are now producing vehicles such as these. Including Nissan, Toyota, Lexus, VW, Etc. When you call us to duplicate or make a key when all are lost. It is good to know the Make and Model of the car. Also the Year Model. And the VIN: number. The VIN number can be found on the cars registration sticker. We can tell you what is involved in making keys to your car and arrange for a locksmith to attend to it as soon as possible.
As well as making keys and remotes to your car, we also provide 24 hour locksmith service to unlock your car when the keys are inside. We can unlock many hard to open cars, such as VW, Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, Etc. If your keys are in the boot, we can also pick the lock to unlock it. If your locks have been damaged, due to a break in attempt, or just wear and tear we have replacement locks for a wide range of cars. We have replacement ignition barrels and locks and we are able to repair locks to get you back driving your car. Most duplicate keys we can cut to either a Code Number or we can decode your existing key to originate a new key. Keys cut to code are more accurate and prolong the life of your locks and keys. Worn keys can cause lock failures, especially in some modern cars. If your key is getting worn, or feeling sticky in your lock. It is best to get it replaced before you get stuck. We operate a 24 hour locksmith service. Servicing All Brisbane, QLD. We also service Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast, and Ipswich areas. We have vans covering all these areas. email: mail@allhourlocksmihs.com.au |
